I love creating commissioned and personalized pieces of art for people to enjoy, whether a caricature or portrait. See below for info about pricing, ordering and all that fun stuff.

Some people might misunderstand what caricature is or be nervous to get one made. My favorite definition of caricature is a portrait with the volume turned way up. Caricature is not meant to make fun or distort, but to exaggerate what it is that makes a person uniquely them.

Portraits are done in my style, which is relatively realistic. Not ultra-realistic like a photo and not abstract. Within the range of my style, however, you can ask for a piece that’s a bit more loose or a bit more realistic.

You can order a portrait or caricature of yourself or anyone else you like. They make great gifts! (Receive your diploma from Eddie Redmayne or play catch with Payton Manning while driving a street sweeper!)

I will draw the bust (head and possibly shoulders depending on the piece) of your selected subject. You can order it in black and white or color. The lines are inked with a dip pen and then shaded (for B&W) or colored with watercolors on artist quality archival watercolor paper and signed by me. (tastefully)

REQUIREMENTS AND THE PROCESS:

First, please understand that I create interpretive pieces of art. Especially with caricatures, I draw what I see, not what someone might WANT to look like. I truly hope that you love the art, but if you really don’t like it, I won’t do it again differently. In that regard, however, the procedure for ordering a caricature does allow for an out…

After receiving a deposit of 1/2 of the total payment and photos from you of the subject, I will create a rough pencil sketch of the piece and then show that to you for approval. If you really don’t like it, you keep the sketch, I keep the deposit and days of inner turmoil and disappointment. If you like it, I will collect the remaining 1/2 of the total payment and finish the piece.

Portraits are easier. Full payment is due upfront. After payment and reference photos are received, I will begin the painting.

PHOTOS: Reference photos are very important. I don’t know you or whoever you are wanting me to draw. All I know is what I see in the photos. Multiple photos are very helpful and helps me to make a more accurate and fun piece of art.
